New Board alert

I saw Chris Miller yesterday and was complaining that I can't noseride. Or that my kid can noseride now and I can't (or never have). He started in on the board issue. I need a board that will work for those small summer days.
So Chris thought the best RX for me is Dennis Murphy's California Classic.
From the Murphy site:
This is the "Rolls-Royce" of our line. It is wide, heavy, and dying to noseride. Don't let the word noserider fool you. This board can really turn too. For those who aren't sure if they want to make the leap backwards to a single fin, we offer side bites for extreme grip on the mid face.

Specs:
Lengths: 9' 0" - 9' 10"
Nose: 18½"
Mid: 23"
Tail: 14½"
Thickness: 3⅛"

Fins: Single
Nothing like a flat spell to start a stimulus program. Note to Ed - Most importantly I need the Leucadia Project laminate

Open Season or Season Opener

Summer is knocking on the door. Although the air is 'May Gray' cool the water is warm. Here are the Watermen enjoying the first part of summer. Listening to a NPR report of how children are spending too much time infront of televisions and computer screens was interesting. There were several tips of how to get them to do 1 hour of exercize.
Kids in our world don't have any of those problems. The only thing we try to do is get them out of the sun for a bit.
With three weeks of school left these guys are ready. As I remember summer as a young teen.....
I am jealous

Jesse Ventura and other good theater

So I am surfing the tv the other night and Jesse Ventura shows up. Let me say I don't know Jesse Ventura or his politics which I expected to be wacky but I was loving it. I came in about 9 minutes into the first clip where he says "We don't call someone who is committed their life to religion a 'Religion Bum'. " He was referring to his dedication to Surfing.

He goes on to say that he lives half time in in Mexico to surf. Now I am all in.

He was a Navy SEAL and says that we should prosecute everyone involved in torture. He thinks Cheney is a coward and criminal, Limbaugh vs Powell (he likes Powell). He goes on to say that the whole Miss California is irrelevant. Marriage should not be dictated by the government and all marriages should be civil unions so the government will not discriminate over sex and Marriage should be sanctioned by your church. (Let the Mormons have their own personal discrimination. My Church of the 'Wall' on WNW swell only discriminates against rudeness and bad surf etiquette.)

He doesn't want a Supreme Court nomination because it would interfere with his surfing. Should I become a total fan? Is he Ted Nuggent? I have to look into it.

Billabong Pro Teahupoo

I have talked to three of my buyers who admit to watching the ASP events online at work.

It was pretty good today. I am looking forward to tomorrows rounds.

You can be replaced

So this overachieving stuff with my oldest son has gone too far. His priorities of getting into a good college and everything are messing with my surf contest watching.
As high school comes next year with 'Speech and Debate', Honors Classes and all. He might have a few years before making it on the Surf Team Roster. He thinks he is leaving me without surf competitions to watch, worry, scream, yell and be a surf stage mom.

Well not so fast! I have another kid. His brother is surf stoked and ripping.

Logan is getting ready for action. Not only is he surfing well in 6th Grade, but he has caught the eye of Coach extraordinaire Erik Baldwin Erik worked closely with Roy Sanchez to shape him the perfect board. He was a stoked as Miss Anne. See Miss Anne's post in the Leucadia Project

The feeling of a new board is hard to describe at 12 years old. Stoked would be a descriptive.

Erik and Logan surveying the new board.

Move over big brother. Logan is coming...
