The history of bad surf films is paved with good intentions and bad reviews.
I waited in line for Big Wednesday. Yes it was bad. The worse part of this was that it was a John Milus Film. Come on John! He was the guy that took Conrads 'The Heart of Darkness' and turned it into 'Apocalypse Now'. On my top 5 favorite films.

Apocalypse Now opened on the same day in Northern California as Big Wednesday. Yes I did take a date to Big Wednesday and tried to convine her that at I was like the William Katt Character..At the end of this movie I felt the same embarrassment as I did making my wife sit through 'The Lords of Dogtown'.
Growing up in Venice sucked and here it was in technocolor with a bad script.
One day we will get it right. But I will leave you with a movie that I did stand on line for. We left school about noon on Friday in Grade School to see one of the best movies ever.
I got to see 5 Summer Stories on opening night at the Santa Monica Civic.

I have a dvd of this film, bought it online, and it is GOOD, kind of beginner longboard surfing.
All 60's mainly around Malibu, Topanga and maybe Rincon.
I had the best college job as a "bellman" at the Mirmar Resort in Montecito (next to Miramar Point and Hammonfds Reef). We got/had to ride beach cruisers to assist clients. One night, I get a call for 3 bottles of "your best champagne" to a beach front suite. Knock on the door and Jan Micheal Vincent invites me in. He's hammered!! as it's his post-wedding bash. Insisted I party with them.... so I did!
Nice job Chris! Jan Micheal looks pretty trashed these days. I was going to blog on the best surf jobs I have had.
Gerry, I liked the film, but where is the left they were surfing?
Your talking about the trailer on youtube, I assume...The big left is Hollywood by the Sea, the small left is Huntington Beach pier, and the last left in the trailer is I dno't know. I might be able to copy the dvd if you want. I bought the film.
